Project Need

A 6 mile, 4-inch diameter HDPE and steel natural gas utility line extension project required Right Of Way (ROW) natural resource inventory and environmental permitting for compliance with Clean Water Act, Section 404 and Commonwealth of Kentucky Water Quality Certification.

Services Completed

Lord & Winter, LLC conducted wetland delineations and stream hydrologic determination reviews; 27 watercourses were crossed by the utility expansion. Application was made to the US Army Corps of Engineers – Nashville District for a Section 404 under Nationwide Permit 12. A Stream Construction Permit Application was submitted to the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection. Cultural resource surveys and endangered species were completed along the corridor. State rare, threatened, and endangered species were cleared along the route.

Issue Resolved

The client received applicable environmental permits to move forward with construction of the 6 mile natural gas line extension. A Section 404 Permit was obtained from the US Corps of Engineers – Nashville District. A Stream Construction Permit was obtained from the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection.
